Head Coach Eddy Morgan

Head Coach Eddy Morgan enters his third season at the University of Wisconsin-Superior with great optimism. The yellowjackets are coming off a 17 win season, which is the most wins since 1974. Coach Morgan's is excited about his second recruiting class which will add more athleticsm and depth to a team that returns 24 players.

Morgan inherited a program that went 3-35 overall and 0-24 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in the 2005-2006 season. In his first year he helped bring the Yellowjackets to a 9-30 record and last season the team improved to 17-23.

In 2008 the yellowjackets were 13-3 in the non-conference schedule which included sweeps over St. John's, Morningside College, and Bethany Luthern College. It also produced the programs first conference win over UW-Oshkosh since the 1973-74 season.

Prior to his arrival at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, the Hermantown, MN native spent nine seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at The College of St. ScholasticaThis link is an external link and will open in a new browser window.. The 34 year-old head coach has high expectations for the program which plays in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic ConferenceThis link is an external link and will open in a new browser window., one of the top NCAA DIII baseball leagues in the country. "I expect we will compete at a high level and we are taking huge steps to turning this program into one of the elite in the upper Midwest," Morgan said. "We will be successful because we recruit student-athletes who want excellence in the classroom and on the field," Morgan said. "The university and alumni our behind the program and I look forward to the challenge ahead of us."

Morgan's assistant duties at The College of St. Scholastica included his work as the team's recruiting coordinator, during a period in which the Saints were often ranked near the top of the nation in NCAA Division III baseball. While at St. Scholastica, Morgan became known as one of the top young assistant coaches in the country. Morgan also was head coach for the Duluth Lakeview American Legion team for 8 years, in which his teams reached state tournament competition four times and developed the program into one of the elite American Legion programs in Minnesota.

As a student athlete, Morgan had a solid playing career as a middle infielder at St. Scholastica, while earning a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Arts/Sciences. He is currently completing his thesis for his Masters Degree in Management.

Morgan is described by his players as, "prepared, enthusiastic, and a competitor. He coaches both pitchers and middle infielders and all other aspects of the program. Athletic Director Steve Nelson said, "He [Morgan] brings a wealth of coaching experience to our baseball program, and will build the necessary foundation to compete and win in the always tough WIAC."

Morgan also works in the universities admissions department as an admissions recruiter. Morgan currently resides in Duluth, MN with his wife Jessica and 2 year old son, Isaac.
